The Additional Basic Qualification course: Intermediate Division, First Nations, Métis and Inuit Studies will help you to further enrich student learning outcomes by delivering varying perspectives on issues, practices and events from the past, present and emergent future with respect to First Nations, Metis and Inuit culture. This blended course will have a strong experiential learning component that includes indigenous perspectives centered on our relationships with the land. Face to face learning will include outdoor programming incorporating indigenous gardens and natural settings.The voices and wisdom of Knowledge Keepers, community members and educators are reflected in this course. First Nations, Métis and Inuit knowledge, ways of knowing, culture, language and traditions are honoured and celebrated throughout the Additional Qualification course: Intermediate Division, First Nations, Métis and Inuit Studies.

The Additional Basic Qualification course is intended to explore and enhance professional practice, program planning and leadership within the Intermediate Division. This ABQ will also extend professional knowledge, skills and pedagogies within this specific area of study and explore the theoretical foundations associated with supporting the adolescent learner.

Prerequisites

  • An undergraduate degree acceptable to the Ontario College of Teachers
  • Be a member in good standing with the OCT
