The purpose of the Physical and Health Education (H&PE) I/S Part 3 Specialist Additional Qualification (AQ) Course is to extend candidates’ skills and knowledge for design, delivery, and assessment of H&PE programs. This course focuses on the theory and practice underpinning H&PE through exploration of the underlying philosophy and its application for ensuring a healthy, active living education. As a specialist course, it also emphasizes the importance of leadership for supporting and sustaining strong teaching and learning through sound, innovative programming. Theory and discussion of important issues culminate in a practical leadership project to demonstrate the candidate’s foundational learning and understanding of H&PE.
Prerequisites
- Be a member in good standing with the OCT
- Part 2 completed
- Minimum TWO years certified teaching experience by the first day of the course, subsequent to certification including ONE year in Health & Physical Education at the Intermediate or Senior level
